3.3.11. Check and adjustment of backlashes of valves
THE GENERAL DATA

Check of backlashes of valves is necessary for making after occurrence of knock of valves, major repairs of the engine or at reduction of capacity of the engine. Check and adjustment make on the cold engine.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Tighten a manual brake, lift a forward part of the car and remove the right forward wheel.
2. Uncover heads of the block of cylinders.
3. Turn a cranked shaft for a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft clockwise while the adjusting label on a pulley of a cranked shaft will not be combined with the index on the case of buttering th pump. For simplification проворачивания a cranked shaft unscrew fuel atomizers.
4. Check up that cams of the first cylinder of a camshaft are directed upwards. If cams are directed downwards, turn a cranked shaft on one complete revolution.
5. Draw the scheme of the engine and number cylinders from 1 to 4. Cylinder N1 is from outside a gear belt. Note position of each valve together with a valve backlash. At about-verke backlashes of valves the cam of the checked valve should be directed upwards.
6. If all backlashes are in demanded limits, establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders, establish a wheel and lower the car. If actually the backlash does not correspond to norm, it is necessary to make adjustment.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Rotate a pulley of a cranked shaft until the cam of the valve which is necessary for adjusting will not be directed upwards.
2. Turn a pusher glass so that the flute on the top edge of a pusher has not been directed to a forward part of the engine.
3. Establish a screw-driver edge between an edge of a glass of a pusher and the basis of a camshaft and move a pusher glass downwards so that it was possible to take a lining from a pusher glass.
4. Clear an adjusting lining and measure its thickness by a micrometer.
5. Add the measured backlash of the valve to a thickness of an initial adjusting lining then from the received number take away demanded клапанный a backlash. As a result you receive a thickness of a new demanded adjusting lining.
For example.
The measured backlash of the valve of 0,35 mm.
Plus a thickness of an initial adjusting lining of 2,7 mm.
Equally 3,05 mm.
Minus a demanded backlash of 0,25 mm.
Demanded thickness of a lining of 2,8 mm.
6. Take an adjusting lining of a demanded thickness, grease with its pure engine oil and insert into a pusher glass that the designation of a thickness of an adjusting lining has been directed downwards.
7. Similarly adjust backlashes of valves on other valves.
8. Some times turn a cranked shaft of the engine and repeatedly measure backlashes of valves.
9. Establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders, establish a wheel and lower the car.
