5.2.9. Start of the cold engine
THE GENERAL DATA

On engines 1,7 in the fuel pump the thermostatic capsule which operates the cold engine is established and reduces emissions of harmful substances in exhaust gases. The thermostatic capsule contains an element which extends depending on temperature of a cooling liquid and changes the moment of injection of fuel, increasing turns of the cold engine by 150 rpm.

On engines of 2,0 l turns of idling and the moment of injection of fuel are defined by block ECU.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Warm up the engine to working temperature, check up turns of idling and cool the engine.
2. On the cold engine check up a backlash between the screw of adjustment and a control lever of the fuel pump. At temperature of a cooling liquid 20 ° About a backlash should be in limits from 0,8 to 1,1 mm.
3. For backlash adjustment ослабьте a counternut and, rotating the adjusting screw, establish a demanded backlash then establish a counternut.
4. Start the engine and check up idling turns. If idling turns differ from demanded, ослабьте a counternut and, rotating the adjusting screw, establish demanded turns then tighten a counternut.
5. Warm up the engine and check up idling turns. In the course of warming up of the engine the backlash between the adjusting screw and a control lever of the fuel pump should decrease gradually before full contact of the screw to the lever. Otherwise there is a damage to system of cold start of the engine, and it is necessary to make repair at a maintenance service stage.
