8.7. Replacement back brake колодок on drum-type brakes
THE GENERAL DATA

The prevention

Necessarily make replacement of all колодок on one axis of the car even if deterioration borders were reached by one колодка. If Pads will be repeatedly established, before removal mark them.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a brake drum.
2. Being careful and security measures, clear all traces of a brake dust from a brake drum, a brake board and колодок.
3. Measure a thickness of overlays brake колодок in several points. If though one колодка is worn out in any place till the minimum thickness, replace all four brake Pads.
4. Note adjusting position of all elements of a back brake.
5. Using flat-nose pliers, disconnect the top returnable spring brake колодок.
6. Disconnect fixing spring of the lever of a lobby Pads and remove fixing spring, the lever and a returnable spring with brake Pads, marking their arrangement.
7. Remove by turns the top ends brake колодок and take an adjusting lath.
8. Using flat-nose pliers, remove a plate of a spring of fixing Pads, pressing a plate and turning it on 90 .
9. Remove a spring and take clamp pins.
10. Separate a lobby brake колодку from the bottom returnable spring and remove brake колодку and a returnable spring.
11. Using flat-nose pliers, remove on back brake колодке a plate of a spring of fixing Pads, pressing a plate and turning it on 90 . Remove a spring and take clamp pins. Remove with brake Pads a cable of a manual brake.
12. Do not remove simultaneously brake Pads the left and right back wheel not to mix a detail brake колодок. Cores with a carving of adjusting laths of the left and right wheel are noted by letters L or R, and other details are identified by colour: black for a left-hand side and silvery for the right party.
13. Disassemble and clear an adjusting lath. The arrow designates a thermal clip.
14. Check up a condition of returnable springs and, if necessary, replace them.
15. If on new brake колодках there is no control lever of a manual brake, remove it with old brake колодок and establish on the new. Fix шарнирный a finger of a control lever of a manual brake a spring ring (it is specified by an arrow).
16. Apply a thin film high-temperature greasing on places of contact brake колодок and a brake board.
17. Connect a cable of a manual brake to the lever on back brake колодке.
18. Establish on back brake колодку a clamp pin Pads, a spring and a plate of fastening of a spring.
19. Establish the bottom returnable spring on back brake колодку and connect a spring to a lobby brake колодкой.
20. Establish a lobby brake колодку on a brake board (a photo at the left), insert a clamp pin Pads, a spring and a plate of fastening of a spring (a photo on the right).
21. Collect an adjusting lath for what screw an adjusting wheel on a regulator bolt so that between a wheel and a bolt head there was a small backlash. Insert a regulator bolt into an adjusting lath.
22. Establish an adjusting lath between brake колодками. Check up that both ends of an adjusting lath are correctly established on brake Pads. Thus longer end of a plug of an adjusting lath should be directed to a brake board.
23. Connect a returnable spring of the adjusting lever to a lobby колодкой and the adjusting lever and establish the lever on шарнирном a finger. Fix the adjusting lever a fixing spring.
24. Check up that the top parts brake колодок are correctly established in the piston of the working brake cylinder and establish the top returnable spring.
25. Check up that the reference point of a stop of the lever of a manual brake is established against edge brake Pads, then establish a brake drum.
26. Make replacement brake колодок on the second back wheel.
27. After replacement brake колодок adjust a backlash between them and a brake drum for what 20–25 times press a brake pedal. By pedal pressing at normal work of an adjusting lath the clicks published by an adjusting lath should be audible.
28. Check up and if it is necessary, adjust a manual brake.
29. Check up level of a brake liquid in system.
