THE GENERAL DATA |
If the starter does not work in key position "engine start", following reasons are possible:
The accumulator is faulty.
Breakage of an electric chain between the ignition lock, the traction relay, the accumulator and a starter.
The traction relay is faulty.
Mechanical or electric defect of a starter.
For accumulator check light headlights. If they grow dull in some seconds, the accumulator means is discharged. Recharge or replace the accumulator. If headlights do not grow dull, include a starter and observe of light. If they grow dull, means, pressure arrives to a starter and malfunction is in it. If headlights continue to burn brightly (and there is no click of the traction relay of a starter), it specifies that there is a damage to an electric chain or the traction relay is faulty. If the starter rotates slowly, and the accumulator in a good condition it specifies that a starter is faulty or there is a considerable resistance at an electric chain of a starter.
If damage to an electric chain is suspected, disconnect the accumulator and clear all connections and contacts in a starter feed circuit. Repeatedly connect the accumulator and, using the voltmeter, check up pressure on elements of an electric chain to a starter.
If the accumulator and an electric chain in a good condition, remove a wire of a food from the traction relay and connect to it the voltmeter. Turn the ignition key in position "engine start". In this position there should be a full pressure of the accumulator.
Contacts of the traction relay can be checked up voltmeter connection between contact of the traction relay connected to a starter and the earth. At ignition key turn in position "engine start" the voltmeter should show pressure. In the absence of pressure the solenoid of the traction relay is faulty or contacts of the traction relay have scorched.
If the electric chain and the traction relay are serviceable, means the starter is faulty.
